Humorous Bamboo Kitchen Utensils

What is your favourite kitchen utensil?

A while ago, someone shared a joke on a Whatsapp group I’m member of and it said; “You know you’re a grown up when you have a favourite kitchen utensil”

I pondered it for a while and realised that I actually DO have a favourite kitchen utensil. It’s a bamboo spatula I almost always use when cooking. Which is strange because I have at least a couple of dozen other kitchen utensils.

It’s not that I’m an extraordinary cook or anything.  I just absolutely love kitchen utensils. And I love giving them as gifts. Especially when you put a special or humorous text or design on them; they’re not only a practical gift, but are guaranteed to put a smile on someone’s face or a warm fuzzy feeling every time they use the special kitchen utensil you gave them.

While in Amsterdam a few months ago,  I saw a group of women celebrating a bachelorette party. Each one was holding a bamboo spatula with her name and “function” engraved on the spatula. E.g. Joanie – Bride to be or Janet – the Official Shit  Stirrer or Geena – the Sober Sister. It was absolutely hilarious and I believe those spatulas will remind the ladies of an unforgettable evening for many years to come.

All our kitchen utensils and cutting boards are sanded and washed before engraving. Then wiped down with a soft clean cloth  before applying a non-toxic food friendly oil to protect the bamboo, so that you can actually use it, not just look at it.
