The Inspiration

This year, we went skiing for the first time in a while. And as we got off the ski lift, we sat down in the snow to just marvel at the beauty of the snow covered mountain. Sitting outside in the snow (instead of in the warm restaurant) reminded me of our first winter in the Netherlands in our new home. When we woke up one Sunday morning, the world was covered in about 15 cm of snow. And despite the snow and cold weather, we decided to braai.  Needless to say – our neighbours (who didn’t know us at the time because we were brand new in the neighbourhood) thought we were really WEIRD. They still laugh and joke about it today. 

So back to what inspired these designs at this time of the year; sitting on that beautiful snow covered mountain and letting my mind wander back to our first “snow braai” in the Netherlands, inspired me to create these designs. 

Because let’s face it; as South African expats, a little bit of cold and wet weather, does not deter us from having a braai.
